Welcome to Dummy Daze. I'm Meghan Miller and I've been a performing Ventriloquist for 11 years. I discovered that I could throw my voice when I was three years old. I was watching the Miss America pageant on TV in 1991 and saw Miss Pennsylvania, Marla Wynne, perform her talent. |

Shortly after seeing Ventriloquism on TV for the first time, I was giving voices to all my Barbies. My family discovered this hidden talent riding in the car one day. I could imitate my older sister's voice and get her in trouble for picking on me. I was hooked. |

I didn't have a dummy until I was seven years old. It wasn't until about 5 years later that one of my characters informed me that it is not politically correct to call them Dummies any more...they want to be known as Fabricated Americans. But, since I'm not that into Political Correctness, they're still Dummies to me. |

So what is DUMMY DAZE? Well this is the effect on audiences seeing an accomplished ventriloquist live for the first time. Audience members stare in a daze, as their lack of believe of anything magical is replaced by the acceptance of Dummies coming to life right before their eyes. |

Ventriloquism provides very unique opportunities. I have been invited to schools across the US to share my school program "Hop on the Bus with R.E.S.P.E.C.T." Just as Sesame Street captivated the preschool television audience for a generation, students of all ages are captivated by my simple characters and straight forward lessons. |

Most people consider the Art of Ventriloquism as a dead or at least dying art form. But I have found it to be very much alive, just not widely practiced. It is still practiced by some very successful comedians that are delighting audiences in Comedy Clubs and Theaters across America. I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with many of the best (see links page). |

And even at my young age, I have been warmly welcomed to share this art form on major stages everywhere I've traveled. I've listed some of the more notable locations I've performed on my talent resume. |

We've also been able to help out community service groups all over th United States. These have included The Ronald McDonald House, Texas Children's Hospital, Special Olympics, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) both in Houston and Beaumont, and many others. In 2006 I was the national representative for the US Dream Academy, helping at riskchildren succeed. |

One of the best things that has happened along the way...In the year 2000 I received the Disney/McDonald's/UNESCO Millennium Dreamers Award for my impact in the local community. And then earlier this year (2005) I received the President's Volunteer Service Award - Lifetime Achievement for Community Service. I've logged over 4000 hours so far and still going strong...and LOVING IT!
